Doctor of Dental Medicine – Graduated University of Toronto (2006)

When I was 12 years old, I started a course of braces to straighten my somewhat gnarly smile. After 2 years of braces and some very nice restorative/cosmetic dentistry, I had a healthy smile that changed my life! My outstanding experience as a dental patient proved to be very influential, as it easily allowed me to decide to become a dentist!

I am delighted to have become a partner at the Colwood Dental Group and take over the practice of Dr. Dave Mick. In the lead-up to my February 2011 arrival at the clinic, Dave and I had some great conversations that demonstrated that I would be an ideal fit with the Group. Dave and I are ‘on the same page’ in terms of our desire to continue and evolve the solid dental care principles that have been established in the practice. The most important principle to me is, "Provide my patients with the same level of dental care that I would provide my own family.”

A little more about me: I was born and raised in Atlantic Canada and obtained my undergraduate science degree at Acadia University, Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Then I pursued my dental education at the University of Toronto, graduating in 2006. I have practiced/served in Victoria, Edmonton, Kingston, and Afghanistan as a Dental Officer in the Canadian Forces. I enjoy sailing, road biking, travelling, and golf, although I am not as great a golfer as Dr. Mick!

I would like to thank you for such a warm welcome back to the greater Victoria area. I look forward to soon meeting with you in my dental chair!

Dr. Austin Andrews
General Dentist - Owner

Doctor of Dental Medicine – Graduated University of Saskatchewan (2018)

I was born in Calgary, but I grew up in Saskatchewan prior to moving to Victoria with my family when I was in high school. As a student, I was always proficient in tasks that allowed me to work with my hands while challenging me intellectually. It wasn’t until my experience with braces that I began to consider the profession of dentistry. I admired my dentist's skill and knowledge while working and appreciated the tangible outcome of his meticulous work. The care and dedication I received as a patient played an important role in my decision to become a dentist. Once my teeth were fixed, I decided that I wanted to deliver the same level of care and expertise to my community by practicing family dentistry.

I attended the University of Victoria for undergraduate studies before moving on to complete my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Saskatchewan. Upon graduation, I returned home to Victoria to begin working in private practice.

Outside of work, I enjoy hiking with my partner, Chelsea, and our Golden Retriever, Payton. Like all good Canadians, I spend as much time snowboarding, fishing, golfing, and playing hockey (with a mouthguard, of course) as I can.

I am delighted to be a part of Colwood Dental Group and look forward to serving my patients – children, adults, and seniors alike – with exceptional, honest care and dedication.

Dr. Robert Walker
General Dentist - Owner

Doctor of Dental Medicine – Graduated University of Saskatchewan (2005)

I’m a prairie boy at heart. I spent my entire life in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan up until June 2005, when I decided Victoria would be a nice change.

When I was 13, a chance encounter with my teeth and a baseball originally got me thinking about dentistry as a career. In 2001, I was accepted into the College of Dentistry at the University of Saskatchewan. Four years later, in May 2005, I graduated with Great Distinction and moved out west to beautiful British Columbia. I spent the first five months as an Associate for an office in Langford before moving over to the Colwood Dental Group, where I have been ever since. In 2009, I became a partner in the practice with Dr. Holben, and in 2017, I assumed ownership of the upstairs practice.

In 2007, I met my fiancée Meredith, and we were married in September 2010. We now have two beautiful daughters, Madison and Piper.

I love the light atmosphere at the clinic and working with a group that is always striving to become better dentists, no matter how many years of experience! A great wealth of knowledge exists in this building, which is one of the many keys to this group's success.

Outside of work, I am involved in two hockey teams, slow pitch and squash. I also enjoy playing the guitar and, of course, golfing. Birding is a passion that I make time for whenever possible, and I love the outdoors. I feel so fortunate to live in a place as beautiful as Vancouver Island.

I love meeting new people of all ages and strive to make patients comfortable while always providing high-quality dentistry.

Come in and see us!
